Only lying flat on the floor provides this stunning view of the fly agaric. Winter is not ideal for picking and photographing fungi. In autumn 2023, the mushroom season started rather late. Its peak time therefore overlapped with a serious onset of winter in late November. Within hours, the colorful forest floor was fully covered with snow. Fully? Not really, only for those who do not take the time to observe closely. Admittedly, it was difficult to find good motives, and it was rather cold, but definitely worth the effort.

Please note that photos until March 2010 have been taken on 24x36mm film (mostly Fujichrome 100 ASA slides, and 400 ASA for wildlife). These have been carefully converted into digital files using NIKON Coolscan 5000 ED and Adobe Photoshop Elements. Due to the original analogue source, a certain level of grain might be visible on large prints. In general, for sizes of 90x60cm and up, I would always recommend to choose the “Business High Resolution option”.
